Reason 10.2 creating a multi layered grain engine

Reason 10.2 creating a multi layered grain engine

Hi, I am Hydlide. Welcome to my vlog.

In this video, I am going to talk about using Grain as a multi-layered sample setup. Kind of what you could so with the NN-XT. But in this case, I am using multiple instances of Grain as a test case scenario.

While I might add, the setup is quite a time consuming to do. But once you do it, you have a sampler that is quite unique. Has different layers. And can be manipulated in many different ways.

The origin article I am referring to is located here:

Control Voltage In Reason 10.2
The Basics
Part 1

Control Voltage In Reason 10.2
The Basics
Part 1

Hi I am Hydlide of https://www.reasonexperts.com

Today I am going to start of with a new series about control voltage. Since I have heard a lot of people are struggling with this, have little clues on what control voltages are. And some may require additional ideas in the realm of Control Voltages.

So with that in mind, I am going to make a new series regarding control voltages. Beginning with the basics first (again, but take a different angle while doing this). While in this series progresses over time I will also touch the boundaries on what envelopes do, how you can use those in a CV environment. Touch the subject of modular synthesis. Base stuff around the PSQ-1684 (and some crazy ideas while using this device). And touch the realm of Berlin school while doing so.

At the end of this specific series, you should know a lot about what makes Control Voltage work inside Propellerhead Reason. Also have much more control over how to use it, and how to manipulate it. Eventually leading to becoming a CV expert while just looking at cables and understand what is going on.

While this is one series, I might note I am going to provide different videos outside this series. Just to keep things simple, I will keep everything inside a playlist (so you can look up the playlist to see the complete progress on the series while this progresses over time).

At this point I am writing this down I have no idea yet (nor any timetable) how long this series will be, nor any idea on when this series is finished.

Grain Early work in Progress

Grain Early work in Progress

Hi I am Hydlide of reasonexperts.com

today I am going to share an early work in progress about a project I have started on. This project is going to be a Grain refill project that supports Reason 10.2 and everything above that.
Grain is a granular synthesizer which was originally released with Reason 10. While I have encountered several issues with Reason 10 (the initial release that is) I did not really want to make any refills for this device just because of this. The issue was fixed with Reason 10.1. In the meantime, I have been working on a similar refill project called Europa "expressionism".

While grain is just something else, I have also noticed that defining a suitable refill for this device takes a lot more time and effort to make it all work. Since we are talking about samples and manipulating those samples in different directions. So from this angle, the release date is something I can not really comment on since I am not sure when this refill will be finished.

The idea here, however, is pretty much set. I am going to define 32 different engines (based on a similar concept and idea I did with the subtractor "reactor refill".

When those 32 engines are defined it is a matter of making patches for those 32 engines and fill them up with sounds and samples.

Holiday and some questions for my audiance

https://www.reasonexperts.com

In this video I will address my audience to the basic questions: what do you need from me. As a topic.

Since I am open minded, I am open for suggestions, this is the video to post your comments ;)

I usually read most of them, so fire away.

How to create a Super Saw
Reason 10
Reason Vlog

How to create a Super Saw
Reason 10
Reason Vlog

Hi I am Hydlide of Reasonexperts.com. Today I will explain how to create a super saw and debunk how a super saw internally works.

A lot of people will look at the roland jp8080 to create a supersaw and trying to re-create exactly that. While others have been creating custom made super saws in genres like trance and such.

In this video I will explain how internally a supersaw is created using multiple synths. While some prefer to use just one synth only, I am also going to touch Europa (Reason 10) to explain how to create a super saw in Europa.

It is the idea that matters, you can do all the fine tuning from now ;)

Custom 808 kick using europa
Reason 10.1
Reasonexperts

Custom 808 kick using europa
Reason 10.1
Reasonexperts

Hi I am hydlide of https://www.reasonexperts.com. In this video I will explain a quick and easy method on how to create your own custom made 808 kick drum using Propellerhead Reason 10.1 and Europa.

The idea is to have two different layers, where one controls the pitch (thus the attack of the kick) while the second layer controls the "umpfh" layer.

A similar trick can be applied using Thor. But in that case you want to use the Wavetable oscillator just because of the fact that the Analog Oscillator has a different phase offset everytime you play it (and load it up).

The malstrom also works great with this technique, since it is a wavetable by default.

Enjoy this propellerhead Reason 10 tutorial about making a custom 808 kick drum. In this video I will explain how to create an 808 kick drum.

Why I chose Reason as my DAW

Why I chose Reason as my DAW

I am Hydlide of https://www.reasonexperts.com (that site that contains tutorials about Propellerhead Reason).

Todays vlog is going to be weird video. I am going to talk about why I started with Reason and using this as my primary daw.

While during the progression of this video (at least, that was part of the end goal of this video anyway) I am going to announce a new project so I can have fun with this again.

Since the workflow has changed a lot for me in the last few years. And this kind of goes back to changing the core on why I was using Propellerhead Reason to begin with.

So with that all said, I am going to throw in a surprise that may not come as expected.

On a side note, I was already working on a different project that relates to Thor, but I thought this idea I am throwing in this video would be much more fun to do!

I will also drop the link on Modplug tracker as I have mentioned in the video:

https://openmpt.org/features

The poll I am referring to in this video can be found on any article page on my own site: https://www.reasonexperts.com

Happy voting!

Grainshift
Rack Extension
Reasonexperts

Grainshift
Rack Extension
Reasonexperts

In this video I will explain how to make use of grainshift the grainshifting delay pitch engine. It is a propellerhead reason Rack extension that does grains, delays, pitch shifting and bitcrushing in one.

I could see this as an additional cool tools set to use to create some creative effects on different sounds. Such as creative beats, or some creative pads, and if you want use it as a voice manipulation device.

All these techniques will be shown in this Reason video tutorial. Like I have done mane reason video tutorials about propellerhead reason, I will go much more indepth to explain these type of devices.

Janitor CV Scaling and Manipulation
ReasonExperts

Janitor CV Scaling and Manipulation
ReasonExperts

https://www.reasonexperts.com

Hi I am Hydlide of reasonexperts

In this video I will be mainly talking about a Control Voltage tool which is a free rack extension for reason called Janitor (made by Lectric Panda). This propellerhead Reason utility allows you to scale a CV value pretty fast. Which would be similar as using a Thor patch and using a Rotary to scale the CV value. But in this case it is a tool just for that specific task. While janitor comes with different options (offset, attack and decay), in this video I would like to explain the theory behind what janitor does (and show this visual). There is a lot of stuff that needs explaining, so I am taking my time on this one.

Master Class Europa
Reason
ReasonExperts

Today I will be sharing a masterclass on how to do sounddesign with Europa.

This masterclass is about sound design. While I have had many ideas to make a complete series out this, I am just releasing this single episode on youtube. I have my reasons....

Anyway, this video will demonstrate how europa works internally while looking at the oscillator section (or engine) alone.
