The following Combinator patch for Propellerhead reason 5 I am providing is part of a video I recorded a few days back. The initial idea was to create a toggle set up, where you are able to enable different sounds by triggering different keys (on the midi keyboard). While the initial set up used toggle buttons on Thor, this had one minor draw back: the buttons are not velocity sensitive.
To sort out the issue, I used the velocity of Thor to map it towards the CV output. The scale (MIDI gate) is used to enable the velocity outputs, only when the device gets a midi key note on event. Once the Midi key gets released, it stops the velocity CV output from traveling towards the other devices.
For the next phase to make this thing to work with multiple keys, is that every note needed to have its own Thor unit. This mimics the idea of using 'poly CV' if you will. Make note, with the initial patch I mapped C0 till B3. The rest of the keys have not been programmed.
In this stage, I have set up a combinator patch that uses Rex loops from the factory soundbank. But in theory this set up could go a long way. Think in terms of having multiple devices using matrix pattern steps sequencer. Using keys you are able to turn on and off a specific sequence for instance.
