A Polymodular build using malstroms

Published: 11 months ago

Today I have created another Polymodular build using malstrom graintable synthesizers as a source. The main synthesizer for these builds are set to Sawtooth 16 with a minor motion attached to them. This makes the synth itself sound quite mysterious from what I can tell.

The build I have set up contains the following units:
- 8 malstrom graintable synthesizers
- the CV units from the Polymod (not ever module is used, however)
- 1 Distributor to control all the gates and note outputs
- 1 Movement Envelope generator to control the first Filter slope
- 2 Filters, one is used for movement while the other is a constant LP Filter (4 pole)
- Mark VIII just as a simple mixer
- some additional effects from the stock devices (like the RV7000, the Echo and the UN-16)

Polymodular Build Malstroms

The following build was made using Reason 9.5. While it should work on Reason 6.5 and above (haven't fact checked it). This build requires every Rack Extension from the Polymodular System version 1

The controls for this build:
- Rotary 1 controls the notch + lp pre-filter
- Rotary 2 controls the resonance of the notch + lp pre-filter
- Rotary 3 controls the aft Lp filter
- Rotary 4 controls the resonance of the Lp filter
- Button 1 adds portamento (glide)
- Button 2 adds a delay (the Echo)
- Button 3 increases the voice count (8)
- Button 4 adds a reverb (basic hall RV7000)

Ah ha! Just noticed that you added a video on the Pulse system. I should perhaps have read all your new tutorials before posting!

A request. Your series on the Polymodular system looks v. interesting. For those of us yet to take the plunge, might it be possible to attach an mp3 with some random notes so that we might better decide if it's worth a purchase?I guess I can also answer my own question by remembering the option to take these instruments out from the shop on trial. Seems like several downloads are required though, so this still might be a useful thing to do (if you can find the extra time).best regards

Here is a complete series I did in the past that contains 7 videos discussing most of the features from the polymodular system itself.https://www.reasonexperts.com/poly-modular-systems-.html
